My Top 20 Premium and Free BlackBerry Applications
June 1, 2009 by admin
Filed under Blackberry Games, Blackberry Software, Site News, featured
I have been reading the top 10’s and 20’s of different peoples favourite blackberry applications and thought I’d join the great debate! I am using the BlackBerry Storm at the moment so every application will be available for that device, but also many will work on other BlackBerry devices.
You will notice we state weather the application can be downloaded using the BlackBerry Application World as this is a good way to check if it is available for your device, also included will be the price (if it isn’t free), the download location, trial availability and the berry 365 rating out of 10.
Please remember this is just my opinion and I would love to hear if you think I have missed something off the list or you feel I have added something not worthy of your top 20!
1.Viigo
In at number one on my all time top 20 blackberry applications has got to be Viigo. Its FREE and is certainly my most used application. Everything from football to share prices can be found on Viigo. The new and improved Viigo, now with pod cast support is a hive of information and lets you fully customize it to follow your favourite rss feeds keeping you bang up to date with the latest news from your most visited sites. As long as Viigo keeps progressing the way it is im fairly sure it will remain firmly at or near the top of this list.

2. QuickLaunch v2
Second on our amazing Top 20 BlackBerry Applications list is QuickLaunch v2. Anyone who follows us here at 365 will know how much we love the work Erik does on QuickLaunch. In a nutshell quick launch lets you quickly launch any application of feature using pretty much two button clicks. With the added features of quickly resetting your device and taking screen captures this is destined to be a long favourite for me and many others. For more information on version 2 click here.

Price: $4.99

3. World Snooker 09
Right up there with Viigo and QuickLaunch as one of my most used applications, granted its a game but it gets some seriously heavy usage on my phone! 1 or 2 players, championship mode, trick shot mode and lasts for absolutely ages! Good for competative battles with your workmates.. Best 5 pound I have spent on the phone! I would love to hear what kind of top scores you get if you play this one.

4. Berry Buzz
I came across Berry Buzz when writing a review for the developer and it has been an ever present favourite of mine. It lets you receive many different notifications via the LED changing colour and also the useful vibe and ring can be set in this application! One of those apps you just don’t like to live without once you have it. This is good for them times when your in a meeting or you only want to know about important phone calls or texts but still want the option of having you phone on silent.

Price: $5.95

Berry365 Score: 9/10
5. BB Messenger
OK so this one is cheating just a little as it is already included with the phones operating system but non the less it is still an application and is one of my firm favourites. I like other messaging clients but BBM just feels that little bit more exclusive and lets you keep in touch with people who have a similar interest as yourself… blackberry fans unite! Send files, contact information and most importantly stay in touch at a fraction of the price of a text message.

6. BB Smart Alarms Pro
If like me you love to sleep, you will no doubt slept through many alarms! Unfortunately the BlackBerry does not come equipped with the ability to set multiple alarms. Step up BB Smart Alarms Pro. Create as many alarms as you want! Choose from four cool alarm sounds or pick your own mp3’s to wake up to! Set snooze times for 1, 2, 5 minutes all the way up to an hour (im a snooze button lover!). Take you arlarmingly cool BlackBerry to the next level!

7. 99 Holes Mini Golf
This is my number 2 game and its simply because I have a great rivalry with my friend at work and this is our bored at work game in which there have been many a pound won and lost! 99 Holes Mini Golf is uberly addictive especially when played with someone you love to beat. The graphics aint up to much but the gameplay is stupidly addictive and you have 99 holes. All in all a decent game with longevity attached to it.

8. Google Maps
This one gets me out of a few sticky situations! I use Google Maps for the BlackBerry Storm quite a lot as I sometimes work in rural areas and trying to find the railway can be a bit of a pain…. stick Google maps on and scout for it the old fashioned way… on a map. But not just any map a digital image with gorgeous clear shots of pretty much anywhere in the world. Add a route planner and GPS to the fold and you have quite simply the best mapping solution on the BlackBerry! Only Google can pull that out the bag.

9. Google Sync
Google Sync is a new addition to my top 20 and since running this site I have found it to be of great benefit to me. I use google for all my personal contacts and my calender needs… Im writing this blog as wee speak as I checked my google calender entries and it reminded me to write a helpful list post all synchronised using GoogleSync. Once it has been fully set up it runs in the background as and when you require it to. Great business tool!

10. Docs to Go
This might not be everyone’s cup of tea but again one that comes included in the phones original operating system makes it into my top 20. Its mainly because I use it quite a lot with my day job… weather it be updating and sending my CV to clients or filling in my time sheets using sheet to go, this is one nifty little application that all phones should have. The program is upgradeable which makes it even better although it is quite pricey.

11. BBFileScout
A nifty little application that gets a fair lot of usage on my BlackBerry Storm is BB FileScout which is why it has made it into my top 20. BB FileScout lets you manage your files more easily and more accessibly than was previously available with the official RIM software. BB FileScout is one of them applications that should have been there as an original feature of the operating system!
BlackBerry Application World: No
Price: Free (OTA Link)

12. Pattern Lock
Pattern Lock has got to be the coolest locking application available for the BlackBerry Storm. It does exactly what is says on the tin… locks your phone with a pattern, one which you set. If this didn’t lock me out all the time when I have sampled a few too many lagers it would be much further up on the list. Options galore can be set on this BlackBerry Storm locking application, making it one of the best there is available on the market.
BlackBerry Application World: Yes
Price: $2.99
Trial Available: Yes
Berry365 Score: 8/10
13. FaceBook
Nothing too revolutionary here but facebook for BlackBerry smart phones is getting better with updates and I use it every day so it has got to be on the list. If some features on myspace, like the picture viewer, were available on FaceBook it would definitely be in my top 5 but there is still a little work to be done to make it the great application it should be. Still a definite must in anyone top 20… steady and reliable!

14. Brick Breaker Revolution
If President Obama digs the BlackBerry for “Brick Breaker” then that’s good enough for me. What we have here though is digital chocolates attempt to revamp the game with more tricks, more levels and more game play! It is one of them games that just gets better with age and is the ultimate boredom killer at the bus stop or work. Four amazing game modes for endless excitement: Revolution, Classic, Infinite and Time Attack!

18. Opera Mini
This phone browser is used world wide by many different phones and you can see why. At the moment it is the best of the rest and I find myself using it a fair bit. There are some new exciting browsers in the pipeline and I can see this one dropping out of my top 20 if they are as good as hyped up to be, but for now if you want an alternative to the BB Browser this is my choice. Software for the Storm is now at version 4.2 and the improvements keep on getting better.

I remember when my dad brought home his first laptop from work when I was like 12 or 13 and it had Civilization on it…. I spent a whole school half term glued to the screen trying to take over the world! Now its on my berry! Sweet! Maybe not as good as the classic I remember, although I did have more imagination back then! Its an absolute classic and Its on a phone you cant go wrong!

20. MeterBerry - Battery and memory manager
For those of you that love to know the statistical in’s and outs of your BlackBerry devices this is the one for you. Currently only available for the Storm but an absolute belter at what it does. I especially like the fact you can calculate changes in free application memory since the device was last started, allowing you to detect memory leaks. Brand New to the list and as I test more will probably move up

BerryWars Blackberry Storm Game - Thumbs Up!
May 13, 2009 by Damo
Filed under Blackberry Games, Blackberry Reviews, featured
by Damian Syers
For everyone who loved the old classic Dope Wars and other such versions on the pc and other devices. Now we have it people! There is finally a version out for the Blackberry Storm!…..Berry Wars
As you can imagine it plays much like the old game. You’ll have 30 days to make as much cash as possible. Each day you will travel to locations in New York, buying low and selling high. You can buy clothes to carry more contraband and purchase a small assortment of weapons to protect your bad self.
Hardcore Dope Wars players will remember having to run, bribe or fight themselves away from police and rival dealers and thankfully much of the same is included in this sweet little number.
When playing this game I did find that going up against a small child who was trying to mug me quite amusing. Because even though I had a Tech 9 machine gun, he still managed to deal me 3% of damage! Watch out for him, he’s not as innocent as he looks!
Of course with most new releases, there is always room for improvement. A few extra places to travel, more weapons and perhaps a 30, 60 or 90 day length game option wouldn’t go a miss. A few more “I’m in the money” drug bust notifications would be cool too, or that could just be me being greedy and wanting a higher score!
But for $2.99, (that’s’ about £2.00 here in Blighty) you can’t go wrong! It’s a fun little way to pass some time and release the inner drug dealer, without getting shot at or spending time with your new boyfriend in prison.
Grab yourself a copy here http://www.mobihand.com/product.asp?id=29400&n=Berry-Wars and enjoy.

May 7, 2009 by admin

Once again im delighted to be able to provide you with information about a new FREE game out for the BlackBerry Bold, Storm, and Curve 8900 from CrucialSoft called RHex.
RHex kind of has a Tetris like feel to it as the object is to explode falling hexagons by connecting four or more in a row. Instead of sliding the falling hexagons left or right you stack them on top of a central hex by rotating it. Check the video out after the jump to get a better feel for it.
Unfortunately RHex is only available via desktop loader, however, it is free and you can get it from the download links below…
Download for Blackberry Storm (Installation by Blackberry Desktop Manager): RHex v1.0.3
Download for Blackberry Curve and Bold (Installation by Blackberry Desktop Manager): RHex v1.0.3Bold

BlackBerry Premiuim Game - Mini Golf 99 Holes
April 23, 2009 by admin
I’m a big fan of mobile gaming and when I found this a few weeks ago on the vodafone live part I bought it with a bit of sceptisism. The screen shots didnt really do it justice and what I was looking for was a clone of a mini golf game I played on a Sony Erricson phone a few years back.
But fear not the game is SUPER addictive and really is worth the the $6.99. It does exactly what it says on the tin 99 Holes of Mini Golf.
The graphics are not the best but the gameplay is pretty damn good!

This is from the game description:

Addictive Helicopter Game For BlackBerry Storm
April 14, 2009 by admin
I found this over at CB and had to buy it… Thanks to Kevin for introducing us to this addictive little helicopter game for the BlackBerry Storm. Its similar to the smash hit on the iPhone, iCopter!
The aim of the game is simple… guide your helicopter past the obsticals to get the highest score. There is also a levels mode where the difficulty increases with each level. A nice game which should get better and better as the creator adds some more features.
You can pick this game up from the store here for $2.95. Unfortunately there is no free trial but you can’t argue with the price for a sweet game like this.
