BlackBerry Storm 9500 OS 4.7.0.151 Leaked

Hi all been a while since we found a leaked Operating System but just as I was thinking when…. bang one has been found. We have uploaded this to our rapidshare account as they can download pretty slowly on others with thousands downloading at once.

Please remember this is not an officially released version of the BlackBerry operating system so install at your own risk. If you have installed a leaked version before here is the link:

Engadget Does It Again - They Have The Storm 2!!!

Engadget is one of my most visited sites on the Internet and it is no wonder when they get the scoops like this one. Yet again they a bang on the big releases with their hands on preview of the BlackBerry Storm 2 (ODIN). Unfortunately they could not use the device to its full extent as with this being a pre production model there are obviously issues with hardware and such things, so there is a “Bug” preventing the guys from pressing yes to the licence agreement.

Engadget do go on to comment about the build quality of the device and also the lack of the “award winning” surepress (clicky screen thing). Im not too bothered about that though as I would prefer a more solidly built phone, which I feel the Storm 1 is lacking.

The four buttons at the bottom have now been replaced by softkeys on the actual display. I know there was a hardware issue and a hell of a lot of people returning their phones because the buttons were falling off, so this seems to be an issue that RIM have “fixed” on the Storm 2. Once again in my oppinion a good move.

It just looks better than the original storm in all departments. It looks cleaner, crisper, more solid… I think it looks beautiful!

Its now not “if” the Storm 2 will be released but “when”. I sure as hell cant wait to get this little baby in my hands! Lets hope Vodafone do the right thing and offer us a replacement Storm 2.

Leaked: 4.7.0.148 for 9530 Storm

Official Storm OS Upgrade 4.7.0.141 From Vodafone UK

A few rumors were circulating in the forum last night about the possibility of an official upgrade from Vodafone UK for the BlackBerry Storm. Although nothing has been confirmed over at the VF forum I have it on good authority that the update is deffinately available and you can get it by heading to this link:

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update/

If you use Firefox as your browser you will have to open it up in Internet Explorer. There have also been a few issues surrounding the update. Some people are getting the message: You can not update your software using this systemas your device is currently activated on BlackBerry Enterprise Server. I too got this message and to fix it I did a complete handheld wipe and then loaded it up again.

If you are uncomfortable with wiping your handset please just wait for the exe file to be available on the Vodafone site.

Check it out! Thanks to kevin we have just found out there is a new leaked OS for the BlackBerry Storm version 4.7.0.141. Word on the street is this could well be the last 4.7 build as things switch over to 5.0 which is awesome news.

As always this is a “Leaked Version” and as such is not supported by RIM or your carrier. Please make sure you are confident with backing up and restoring your device befor installing this leaked version.

Leaked 9530 Storm OS 4.7.0.132 Found Online

Well our 9530 cousins can now get their hands on the leaked OS for the BlackBerry Storm 4.7.0.132. Once again seems a while since we have had a leaked OS. Hope to hear good things from this build.

OS Alert… Bold 9000 version 4.6.0.266 (Leaked)

It seems a little while since we have had a leaked version of the Bold operating system, but fear not one has arrived. A lot of our members have been trying out 5.0 recently but there have been a few issues with applications not working on the advanced build, it will take time for the application developers to get there programs up to scratch and working with 5.0, so for now you can stick with trustworthy 4 with this latest update in the form of 4.6.0.266

Official Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.122 released

Our cousins over the water can now finally get their hands on the official release of 4.7.0.122. I have been running this build for a week now on my 9500 UK Storm and the results are pretty good.

Battery Life is getting better and better (maybe im using it less),  General speed of the device is finally getting to a point where opening applications and rotating the screen are a lot faster.

Still has a few quirky bugs! But they wouldn’t keep releasing new builds if the folks at RIM couldn’t fix it!

The update has been officially released by the carrier Bell Mobility in Canada.

Please only upgrade if you are comfortable with the process. This will work on the Verizon 9530 (or any 9530) by following the instructions in the link.

Offical BlackBerry Storm 9500 Update 4.7.0.122

Yet another OFFICIAL update has been found on the BlackBerry Updates part of their website. This latest version is 4.7.0.122 for the 9500 BlackBerry Sorm.

This is NOT an official Vodafone product as if you go to Vodafones section on the BlackBerry Downloads website it still appears to be 4.7.0.78.

It will work on your UK Vodafone BB Storm, I have just loaded it onto mine. I will be bringing a report very soon on this build but for now here is what one of our forum members, damo had to say:

PROS:

Blindingly fast!
Camera is very quick!
Browser even quicker than .113
NO keyboard lag!
Scrolling through pictures seems fluid
Access and use of call log/contacts is snappy!

CONS:

What they have done with the accelerometer I don’t know! Its reasonably quick when you move it from portrait to landscape mode, but when moving it in the opposite way, its slower.

RIM have not fixed the mute key issue. On pressing the mute key in a call, you cannot press it again to unmute the call. Anyone else have this issue?

Colour depth issue is still there. Not sure if they’ll ever fix that one
