Today’s Hint - Add More Email Addresses To A Contact

Quick one today. Have you ever wanted to add more email addresses to the contacts in your BlackBerry? well its is as simple as can be:

Open your Address Book and highlight the contact you ould like to add multiple email addresses too. Click the Menu (BB) button, and select Edit. Once in the contact information screen, hit Menu again, and then select Add Email Address. Seriously, that’s it. It’s such a simple tip, but a highly useful one. You can add up to two additional email addresses for each contact. Or 1 more on the Storm as that already has space for 2.

Today’s Hint - Secret Help Menu In BlackBerry Storm!

This one was dropped in the forums today and i like it! Its a secret code that you enter into your phone that opens up a device info / help me type screen! Here it is:
In the homescreen (inital screen with a few rows of icons) hold down the back key, then (with the back key still held down) hit the top left of the screen, then the top right, then the top left then the top right again, this launches the `help me` screen with various bits of information including version numbers and battery levels.

I find it a quick easy way to get my pin, and see the free app memory (do i need to do a battery pull or not!!)

To get to the “helpme!” screen on BB’s with a keyboard do the following;
Press-and-hold the “alt” key
Then press-and-hold the right”shift” key
The press the “h” key

Today’s Tip - Utilize the BlackBerry button

A little quicky today that will speed up the process in your every day tasks such as texting, emailing and making a call.

this is a good one for speeding up your time with the blackberry, when you hit the menu (bb) key, you always see an option highlighted, now you can either select in the normal way (if you’ve got a storm like me that means clicking the item -means moving your finger) or you can just press the menu key again, this can be very quick for things like sending texts and emails, even facebook or bbm.

Today’s Tip - Day 4 Save Your Wet BlackBerry

wetbbTodays tip is something that stood me in good stead a couple of weeks ago. I had read this tip over at geeksugar.com and had to put it into practice only a few days after reading it after my other half dropped her phone in the bath.

They go on to say that if you are the unfortunate soul who has… “dropped my blackberry in water”, there is an old wives tail solution that if you leave your phone in a bowl of uncooked rice you may be able to save it. The theory is that the rice will suck up the moisture.

This is what we did with my girlfriends phone and the next day it was good as new!!!

Hopefully this is something that will stick in your mind should you decide to give your BB swimming lessons!

Send Contact Information Via BB Messenger

Send Contact Information

Its Day 3 of Project 365. So far we have learnt 2 nice little tips. Yesterdays tip came courtesy of one of our forum members and it was something I didn’t know, which is partly why I set up Project 365 to enhance my own knowledge of BlackBerry phones and also pass on that knowledge to you! Remember to send in your tips to tips@berry365.com as we have some fantastic prizes to be won along the way.

Today’s Tip - Day 3 Send Your Contact Information Via BB Messenger

Today’s tip comes from another of our forum members Bastian1967. To be fair it come from a conversation between him and Mandizzle, site admin. If you have ever been chatting to a friend on BB Messenger and decided it was time to get to know that person in more detail by phoning them it can be a pain asking them for their phone number or having to type your own number/email address should they request it from you.

There is a way of sending your contact details to one of you BB Messenger buddies and this is how we achieve that:

  • Make sure that you have yourself added to your own contacts list
  • Go to contacts and find yourself, hit the menu (BB) key
  • Select ’send to messenger contact’
  • Find the friend you want to send the contact details to
  • Select that friend and hey presto you have just sent your contact details

Todays Tip - Day 2 Event Log Control For The BlackBerry Storm 95xx

Todays tip comes courtesy of Dave Vaughn, forum member and theme building legend! Its a simple little trick to free up a little bit of memory on you 9500 or 9530 BlackBerry Storm.

Basically your storm logs pretty much every single action you do on your phone from phone calls to each time the accelorometer is turned. This uses up precious memory space, ultimately slowing down your phone. To delete the current event log and turn the feature off,  follow the steps below:

  • Hold your storm in landscape mode, hit the menu (BB) key and select show keyboard
  • Hold down the 123 key until the little padlock shows so your on all numbers
  • Now type in the following “/”/
  • This will show you the event logger
  • Press the menu key (BB), and hit “clear log”
  • This now clears all the things you have done from the phone, which in turn will free up a bit of memory.

Now if you want to stop it from logging any more stuff, do as follows:

  • Hit the menu (BB) key, while still in event log, and select options.
  • Click anywhere in the bottom part of the screen.
  • Select `hide all types` you`ll notice theres a drop down box in the top right with 3 options, do this to all 3 options, ensuring no boxes are ticked
  • Now hit the menu key, and hit save, then exit the event log
